Earthquake in Cincinnati,OH

This morning we were awakened by a strange thing. It's 5.55 am and we heard something like messing around with my bags of clothes. And our bedroom was shaky, too!!!!

I turned on the light and Ronnie and I stared one each other. I looked over the window, nothing happened. Again, the bedroom was shaky and all a sudden I remembered MeiLee. I said," Oh my gosh!!!!!!!! Earthquake!!!!!!!!!"

Ronnie said,"Nothing's around here.Hmmmm... I guess it's an earthquake.I've never had one before."

I said," It's earthquake, hun,a lil one. I had years ago back into my country.I was watching tv and all a sudden the cupboard was moving and the house was leaned a few notches to the left."

Sillyly,I didn't check MeiLee.Ronnie said," It's ok now. It's a lil one." We went back to sleep. I was still aware and hope it wouldn't happen again.

Ronnie went downstairs and picked up Putty. He said,"Putty didn't feel anything.Otherwise he would have gone upstairs."

This morning I asked Mom if she had felt anything. She said," No.But,Putty was right in front of my face.Maybe she felt it,too. Your door was closed, that's why he couldn't get in."

I checked news this morning,it's an EARTHQUAKE. 5.2 EARTHQUAKE  ROCKS LARGE REGION OF MIDWEST, esp. Cincinnati,OH. No wonder.

[ Randy Pausch ] : The Last Lecture: A Love Story for Your Life

A phenomenal down to earth guy who changes lots of people's life ( ) how to face life and death.

I had ordered the book, seems it's in hold ( since lots of people are interested in buying it,too ).

Dying Professor's Lecture of a Lifetime

Randy Pausch Has Terminal Cancer, but Inspires Others With Lecture on Living Life to the Fullest

Update: Randy Pausch, a 47-year-old computer-science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, has terminal pancreatic cancer. He has been on palliative chemotherapy, intended to slow the growth of the tumors. The chemo worked well until two weeks ago, when side effects began causing congestive heart and renal failure, resulting in hospitalization. He is now at home, getting his strength back. Recently he wrote this note in his blog, "So I rest, and I rest, and I rest. The really good news is that at least based on blood markers the tumors are being very chivalrous and not taking advantage of this opportunity to run wild, before I'm strong enought to fight back."

In September, Pausch said goodbye to his students and the Pittsburgh college with one last lecture called "How to Live Your Childhood Dreams," on his life's journey and the lessons he's learned

Make sure to watch "The Last Lecture: A Love Story For Your Life" on ABC Wednesday April 9th, 10pm/9 CST.

The Wall Street Journal called it "the lecture of a lifetime" and those who have seen it have more than agreed.

A beloved professor at Carnegie Mellon, Pausch got a standing ovation from the 400-member audience before he even opened his mouth.

No Self-Pity

Pausch, a father of three, talked about his battle with pancreatic cancer. "So in case there is anyone in the room who wandered in and didn't know my back story, my dad always said, 'If there is an elephant in the room, introduce him,'" Pausch said in the lecture.

"If you look at my [CT] scan, there are approximately 10 tumors in my liver. The doctors told me I had three to six months of good health left. That was a month ago so you can do the math."

The diagnosis was a grim reality, but Pausch doesn't do grim and he doesn't do self-pity.

"I've never understood pity and self-pity as an emotion," Pausch told Diane Sawyer on "Good Morning America" today. "We have a finite amount of time. Whether short or long, it doesn't matter. Life is to be lived."

The lecture is filled with jokes.

"We're not going to talk about spirituality and religion. Although I will tell you that I have experienced a deathbed conversion. I just bought a Macintosh. … Now I know I'd get 9 percent of the audience with that," Pausch said.

He also told the audience he was in "phenomenally good health" at the moment and even did a round of one-handed push-ups to prove it.

Patience Rewarded

Pausch said he looked back at family photos and saw that when he was a kid, he was smiling in every picture.

"So what were my childhood dreams? You may not agree with this list, but I was there. Being in zero gravity, playing in the National Football League, authoring an article in the World Book Encyclopedia. I guess you can tell the nerds early," he said in the lecture.

Though he achieved most of his childhood dreams, Pausch flashed his rejection letters on a screen and talked about career setbacks: "Brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls aren't there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to show us how badly we want things."

Pausch says he's not afraid of death, but does worry about the process of dying.

Keep fighting,Randy!!!! Our prayers for you and the family.Keep the faith !!!

The Memory Keeper's Daughter ( 2008 )

Genre: Kids & Family
Duh... I am so glad I watched this movie on Sunday night. It's a touchy one. Me and Mom watched till the end of the story.

Movie that brought tears down ( me and Mom cried !!! ). Being a Mom makes me very sensitive when it comes to kid ( how could you give away your baby like give away cloth even when she didn't expect to be born as a Down Syndrome?? ). Every baby has right to live and laugh!!!! None can take her life away, not even the parents.

Blessed this lil one who is so called Down Syndrome finally survives and has better life than her twin brother. I love the ending !!!

To those who hasn't watched it yet, check the LMN channel. It might replay someday ( it's the Premiere on Sunday !! ) :D

On a snowy night in 1964, Dr. David Henry is forced to deliver his own twins. The first born, a boy named Paul, is healthy and fine, but when the second, a girl named Phoebe, is born with Down syndrome, David is forced to make a quick decision. He hands Phoebe over to his nurse, Caroline Gill, to take to an institution. Upon arriving at the institution, Caroline refuses to leave Phoebe there, so she also makes a decision: she is going to keep Phoebe.

After Norah, David Henry's wife, hears about the "death" of Phoebe from David, she experiences deep melancholia. This psychic trauma creates a number of problems for Norah—abuse, affairs, and various forms of deceit.

Paul remains ignorant of his sister. He is lanky and plays the guitar. The fact that David Henry refuses to let anyone truly get to know him creates much tension between him and Paul. After discovering his mother's first affair, Paul becomes angry and frustrated; even indulging in illegal activities as a way of acting out. He feels desperate for David's love and support. A handsome young man, Paul graduates from The Juilliard School as a musician.

While the turbulent marriage of Paul's parents leaves him bitter and gives him an unhappy childhood, Phoebe is his foil. Caroline marries a handsome trucker named Al and moves to Pittsburgh. Their marriage, though not completely without problems, is much happier and more successful than Norah's and David's. Therefore, ironically, Phoebe's life ended up being happier than Paul's when everyone thought she would be better off dead.
